History of Umbul Brintik Klaten


Like other springs in Klaten, Umbul Brintik is a natural bathing spot whose water comes from a mountain spring. It's said that the name comes from the bubbling at the base of the spring. The natural pool at Umbul Brintik is different from Umbul Manten or Umbul Ponggok. While both use sand and rocks as the base, Umbul Brintik uses a layer of black sand and small andesite stones.

Now used as a therapy location, it turns out this isn't just a myth. Many doctors have recommended swimming in Umbul Brintik for their patients due to certain conditions. There are also numerous testimonials from visitors who have recovered after therapy at Umbul Brintik. This is because the water's pH level reaches 7.2 and there are zero E. coli bacteria, which is good for health.

As its name suggests, Umbul Brintik is located in Brintik Hamlet, Malangjiwan Village, Kebonarum District, Klaten Regency, Central Java. The location is not far from the center of Klaten City, only about 5 kilometers.

The quickest route to Umbul Brintik from Klaten is via Jalan Pemuda, Jalan Tentara Pelajar, Jalan Wilis, then Jalan Klaten Ngupit. After reaching Jalan Basin - Karangnongko, you will soon reach Umbul Brintik. You can drive your own vehicle, as the road to the location is still easily accessible. Upon arriving at Umbul Brintik, visitors will be greeted by expansive rice fields and a beautiful view of Mount Merapi. Upon arriving at Umbul Brintik, you'll also feel the coolness of the area, surrounded by lush trees.

Earlier than most other tourist attractions, Umbul Brintik opens from 4:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time). Despite opening so early, many tourists already flock to the location for wellness therapies.

This is because Umbul Brintik provides complete facilities and services for therapy. Not only does it offer a therapy pool, but it also offers live therapists and free massage services.

Entrance to Umbul Brintik Klaten is still very affordable, at IDR 10,000. Parking is free, making it easier for visitors who drive. Upon arriving at the Umbul Brintik tourist site, you'll be greeted by several natural pools.

The main pool is the westernmost and highest, with a depth of around 150 cm. The therapy pool is shallower than the previous one and is specifically for those seeking a wellness therapy experience.

There are also two pools for adults and one for children, each with a more modern look. On the north side, there are two more pools specifically for children, making a total of six pools in this tourist area. Therefore, you can choose whichever pool is most suitable for you.

For visitors bringing private vehicles, there are parking fees to consider:
• Motorcycle Parking: Around IDR 2,000 – IDR 3,000.
• Car Parking: Around IDR 5,000 – IDR 10,000, depending on the day and traffic conditions.
